April 12, 2021

Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig (Economist): The Prime Minister since the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic is urging the international donor agencies to defer the due payments of the developing countries. Many organizations have responded to it in a positive way. Prime Minister is giving top priority to create a balance between controlling the effects of coronavirus and the economic activities in the country. Prime Minister Imran Khan has given a detailed presentation in opening statement at ECOSOC forum on COVID-19 affects in Pakistan and government's measures in this regard. The government is making all out efforts to ensure the availability of corona vaccine in the country. Now the government has also allowed the private sectors to administer vaccine to people below 50 years. Import of 1 million dosages of corona vaccine is also expected in next 15 days. So far, Pakistan has presented itself as a role model in front of the world as far as dealing with the COVID-19 is concerned.

Dr. Zahid Anwar ( I. R Exper):In our parliament, people’s representatives made this law to provide ease of facility to imports and exports. It will pave the way for economic development of the country as well as promoting trade with other countries. The present government is trying its best to economically develop Pakistan and enhance and strengthen its trade with outside world. With this development, Pakistan will become a hub of trade in near future. Central Asian region as well as Afghanistan are landlocked and can utilize Gwadar port for enhancing their exports to various countries. The development of Gwadar will help them in trade and business activities. Pakistan is making laws which will help trade and improve living standards of people.

Dr. Rasheed Ahmad (I.R Expert):It is a positive development that Pakistan has changed its priorities and shifted from geo-politics to geo-economic. Pakistan is mainly focusing on to enhance bilateral trade and investment not only with the regional countries but with the European countries. Germany is among the countries having strong economies. Moreover, Pakistan and Germany have a very similar approach in Afghanistan as they both want peace and stability in the region. Germany can support Pakistan in improving the areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, health, education and climate change. Germany is the largest trading partner of Pakistan in the EU, and home to more than 100,000 Pakistani diaspora.  The private sector was considered as the economic engine of any country and both the countries must encourage direct relations between the private sectors of the two countries.
