NA praises armed forces for defending Pakistan’s sovereignty

The National Assembly has unanimously passes a resolution, commending the armed forces for their exemplary professionalism, vigilance and courage in defending the sovereignty of Pakistan in response to unprovoked Indian aggression.

The resolution, moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, also commended armed forces’ exceptional restraint, and responsibility as well as a measured and a befitting response to the Indian aggression.   

It paid rich tribute to the brave martyrs, who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland and solemnly acknowledged their supreme sacrifice as a symbol of national pride, resilience and unity.

The House, through the resolution, bowed its head in all humility before Almighty Allah for granting the Pakistani nation the dignity and honour in defending the motherland's territorial integrity against the naked Indian aggression.

The House congratulated the entire nation, which rose above all differences and stood united behind its leadership across the political spectrum with one voice, Pakistan.

The resolution expressed sincere gratitude to the friendly countries for their support to Pakistan at this critical juncture.

The National Assembly reiterated its pledge to the regional and global peace with dignity and honour, while underscoring that democracies are committed to dialogue not conflict. Therefore, it highlighted that the secure neighbourhood and long term stability in South Asia can only be achieved through sincere and structured negotiations.

It urged the authorities to actively engage the international community in efforts to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The House stressed the importance of ensuring the full implementation of the Indus Water Treaty. It also affirmed safeguarding of Pakistan’s water rights as a critical component of national security.

The resolution expressed House’s resolve to continue playing its constitutional role in safeguarding national interest and promoting peace, unity and security for the people of Pakistan and the people living in this region. 

Earlier, The National Assembly was informed today that the latest Household Income Expenditure Survey has been completed to facilitate better planning for poverty alleviation across the country.

Responding to a question during Question Hour, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics is currently compiling the survey data. He added that new estimates will be available by the end of this year, while its final report is likely to be published next year. He further mentioned that the current relief measures for the people are based on data from 2018-2019.

Replying to another question, Parliamentary Secretary for Privatization Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui said the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines is likely to be completed by the end of this year. 

The House also offered Fateha for the souls of 31 innocent civilians, including women and children, as well as personnel of the armed forces, among them Squadron Leader Usman Yousaf of the Pakistan Air Force, who lost their lives in the recent Indian aggression against Pakistan. The House also offered Fateha for others, including security forces personnel who embraced martyrdom in terrorist incidents in Balochistan.

The National Assembly also passed “The Special Technology Zones Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025” and “The National Commission for Minority Rights Bill, 2025.

The bills were moved by the Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar. 

The House will now meet again tomorrow at 11 in the morning.
