International Plant Health Day was observed on Tuesday. 

The United Nations designated 12 May as the International Day of Plant Health to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect environment, and boost economic development.

This year the theme of the day is "Plant biosecurity for food security".

International Nurses Day is also being observed today.

Established in 1974 by the International Council of Nurses, the day recognizes the dedication, expertise, and compassion of nurses worldwide, who are essential for patient care and health systems.

The 2026 theme of the day is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives".
