Researchers have estimated that the first nine months of 2021 saw carbon emissions amounting a little below the 2019 levels.

The scientists from University of East Anglia, England, estimate that in 2021 the world will have emitted 36.4 billion metric tons of CO2, compared to 36.7 billion metric tons in 2019.

They said China's pollution increase is "mostly responsible" for figures increasing.
