Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says countries in the region must work together to implement a coordinated strategy against terrorism.  

He said this in a statement expressing deep grief and sorrow over the brutal killing of eight Pakistanis in the area of Mehrestan, Sistan province in Iran.

The Prime Minister said the menace of terrorism is devastating for all regional countries.

Shehbaz Sharif said the Iranian government, after immediately arresting the accused, should mete out just punishment to them and bring before public reasons for this cruel act.

He directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to contact with the families of the deceased Pakistanis and Pakistan's embassy in Iran for the safe return of their dead bodies.

Meanwhile, Iranian Embassy in Islamabad strongly condemned the inhumane incident.

In a statement, the embassy pledged full cooperation in investigating the incident and reaffirmed commitment to safeguard the rights and safety of all foreign nationals within its territory.
