Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain has stressed the need to expand lawful employment opportunities for Pakistanis in European countries and strengthen bilateral cooperation in skills development.

He expressed these views during a meeting with European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner in Islamabad today.

The two sides discussed legal migration, skills development, vocational training, prevention of irregular migration and improved access for Pakistani workers to European labour markets.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain described the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Pakistan and Italy in May 2025 as an important milestone in promoting legal migration.

Under the agreement, 10,500 employment opportunities were announced for Pakistani workers. He proposed similar employment arrangements with Germany, Finland, Greece and Ireland.

Magnus Brunner appreciated Chaudhry Salik Hussain's efforts in the field of migration. Both sides emphasised promoting legal migration and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
