Leading international daily, the New York Times, reports that Indian Supreme Court's suspension of the implementation of farm laws is a tactic to ease pressure on the Modi government built by farmers' protests.

In its report, the paper quotes farmers' leaders who have expressed serious reservations on the committee formed by the Supreme Court as all its members are vehement supporters of the farm laws.

The court's intervention came when several rounds of negotiations between farmers and government officials failed, but the committee formed by the Court has further deepened the existing concerns about the impartiality of the Indian judicial system.
