In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities once again placed All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his residence in Srinagar today.

The purpose of his house detention was to prevent him from delivering the Friday sermon and offering congregational prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, in its statement expressed deep disappointment and regret over the house detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

It said this arbitrary and unjustified move by the authorities comes at a time when the holy month of Ramadan is going on.

On the other hand, Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is deliberately fueling communal tensions to divert attention from pressing public issues.

Mehbooba Mufti, while talking to reporters in Srinagar, said BJP thrives on polarizing society and targeting Muslims to further its political agenda.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference also strongly condemned the fresh arrest spree unleashed by Indian forces against the Kashmiri youth in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar said the continued cordon and search operations and detentions under black laws by the Indian forces pose an existential threat to the Kashmiris.

He appealed to the international human rights organizations to take India to task for inflicting heavy pain in terms of atrocities and continued political injustice in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The APHC spokesman also urged an international probe into the killings of seventeen civilians in Rajouri and Kulgam incidents.
