Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police have rejected the baseless and misleading propaganda by the proscribed Joint Action Committee.

According to a spokesperson for the Inspector General of Police, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a number of people from different districts want to return to their homes after becoming disillusioned with the conduct of the committee’s leadership.

The spokesperson said the committee had brought people to Rawalakot through inducements and misleading information. He added that individuals seeking to leave the protest were being threatened through social media accounts linked to the committee.

The police spokesperson categorically rejected reports that participants leaving the protest would be arrested, describing such claims as false, baseless, and part of a misinformation campaign.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has announced travel facilities for those wishing to return home.

The spokesperson said facilitation centres have been established in Rawalakot to ensure their safety and smooth return.

He urged those intending to leave the protest to remain in contact with the police and return to their homes without fear.

The spokesperson said an increasing number of people are distancing themselves from the committee’s activities and opting to return home.
