Russia is ready to continue diplomatic talks with the West to try to defuse a security crisis in which it has massed a huge force within striking distance of Ukraine.

In a televised exchange with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the latter said there is always a chance to reach an agreement with the West over Ukraine.
