In Iraq, a military officer and a soldier were killed and 10 others wounded during operations against the Islamic State militants in Kirkuk and Salahudin provinces.

The officer was killed and three soldiers injured in a road-side blast in Kirkuk while one soldier was killed and seven others wounded in another bomb explosion in Salahudin province.

The operation was launched as the militants intensified their offensive in the provinces during the past months.
