Cyclonic ‘TAUKTAE’ intensifies into Severe Cyclonic Storm

The Cyclonic “TAUKTAE” in the Arabian Sea has intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm and is likely to make a landfall at the Indian Gujarat by Tuesday.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the system with winds of 100 to 120 Kmph, gusting to 140 Kmph, is moving Northwestward at a speed of 18 Km and is currently at a distance of about 1300 km south-southeast of Karachi.

The cyclonic activity is likely to cause dust/thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rainfalls along with gusty winds of 60 to 80 Kmph in Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Sanghar districts of Sindh from 17th to 20th of this month.

Dust/thunderstorm with isolated moderate/heavy rainfalls and gusty winds of 40 to 60 Kmph are also likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Shaeed-Banzirabad, during 18th to 20th of this month.

Meanwhile, sea conditions will also remain from rough to very rough during the cyclonic activity.

Furthermore, the Government of Sindh has established a Central Control Cell at the New Sindh Secretariat Building for Tropical Cyclone ‘’ TAUKTAE ‘’.
