Sindh govt made elaborate arrangements to cope heavy rains due to Cyclone Tauktae

The Cyclonic “TAUKTAE” in the Arabian Sea has intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm and is likely to make a landfall at the Indian Gujarat by Tuesday.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the system with winds of 100 to 120 Kmph, gusting to 140 Kmph, is moving Northwestward at a speed of 18 Km.

Talking to our correspondent, Met Office Spokesperson Sardar Sarfraz said the cyclone will not make a landfall on the coastal belt of Pakistan and pass by without touching the coastal area.

He, however, said the cyclone will have an impact in the form of moderate rains with strong winds in the districts of Thatta, Tharparkar, Badin, Mirpur Khas and Umer Kot.

He said dusty winds are currently blowing in Karachi and the temperature of the city is also likely to go up due to the cyclonic activity.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government in a meeting has declared emergency in all theese districts and directed the concerned departments to take precautionary measures to meet any untoward situation in view of Cyclone.

The Sindh government has made elaborate arrangements to cope with the possible heavy rains due to Cyclone Tauktae in all coastal areas as well as urban settlements.
