PM vows to elevate Pakistan's dignity in comity of nations
May 16, 2025

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to build on the spirit of unity demonstrated by the entire nation amidst Indian aggression, and elevate Pakistan's dignity in the comity of nations.

He was addressing the main ceremony of Youm-i-Tashakkur held at Pakistan Monument in Islamabad on Friday.

The Prime Minister said as the entire nation stands united and resolute alongside its armed forces, we must embark on a new journey toward the progress of our country.

He paid glowing tribute to the valiant armed forces of Pakistan for inflicting a crushing defeat on the enemy.

Recapping the main details of Indian aggression and Pakistan's victorious response, the Prime Minister said India in its war-hysteria, had turned down Pakistan's sincere offer of a transparent probe into the Pahalgam incident, and attacked our innocent civilians including children.

He said it was then that Pakistan decided on the night of May 9 to give a measured and befitting response to India.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that India's self-conceived pride of being the regional policeman, was blown to bits by Pakistan's valiant armed forces and PAF falcons turned India's war fever into a nightmare from which it may never recover.

He especially eulogized Pakistan Air Force for integrating advanced technologies that boosted its operational capabilities.

The Prime Minister said the remarkable display of professionalism by PAF falcons has overawed our adversaries and made our friends even more proud of us.

He said this success has changed the course of time for Pakistan, winning it laurels across the globe.

Directing his address to diplomats and friendly countries, the Prime Minister thanked them for supporting Pakistan's firm, fair and just stand against baseless Indian propaganda.

He mentioned Turkiye, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Iran. He especially appreciated US President Donald Trump for his vision to restore peace and his leadership in averting a very lethal looming war in south Asia.

The Prime Minister asserted that we have won the war but we still seek peace.

He said we have taught our enemy the much-needed lesson but we condemn aggression and want this part of the world to be as prosperous and progressive as others by living as peaceful neighbors.

The Prime Minister said it is up to us, both India and Pakistan to be either unruly or peaceful neighbors.

He reiterated that Pakistan has always preferred peace as war only brings problems for peoples on both sides.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan is the world's biggest victim of terrorism, having sustained a loss of over 90,000 lives and billions of dollars in economic damage.

The Prime Minister said India and Pakistan have to come to dialogue table and settle their outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir and water distribution, without resolving which, lasting peace remains elusive.

He said once we resolve these core issues then we can move on with collaboration on other issues including countering terrorism.

Earlier, Fateha was offered for the departed souls of martyrs, who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland.

Fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force presented a magnificent fly-past during the ceremony.

Syeda Hadia Hashmi, Shabnam Majeed and Sahir Ali Bagga presented patriotic songs.

Cabinet members, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, services chiefs, foreign diplomats, media persons, artists and sports personalities as well as senior military and civil officials attended the ceremony.
