National Disaster Management Authority has warned of thunderstorms in various parts of the country from today to Saturday. 

According to an alert issued by the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Centre, rainfall coupled with rising temperatures could trigger flood-like conditions in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir during this period.

The authority also highlighted the danger of rapidly melting glaciers and the possible bursting of glacial lakes, which could significantly increase water flow in mountain streams and rivers.

It said all provincial and district administrations have been directed to ensure preparedness and maintain readiness to respond swiftly to any weather-related emergency.
