Pakistan, UAE agree to expand bilateral ties in field of Railways

Pakistan and United Arab Emirates have agreed to continue and expand bilateral cooperation in the field of Railways and other economic domains.

The understanding to this effect reached during a meeting between Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Al-Tahiri in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, the UAE Ambassador congratulated Hanif Abbasi on assuming his new role as Federal Minister for Railways and extended his best wishes for his success.

Ambassador Ahmed Al-Tahiri also expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express, where terrorists attempted to hijack the train and took passengers hostage.

He condemned the attack and extended his sympathies to the affected passengers and their families.

During the meeting, both the dignitaries discussed the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE, particularly in the railway sector.

It was noted that relations between the two countries continue to strengthen across all sectors.

The UAE Ambassador stated that the friendship between Pakistan and the UAE is unwavering, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties of brotherhood and mutual respect between the two nations. He reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi highlighted that Pakistan Railways is continuously working to improve its services through long-term agreements with domestic and international suppliers.

He emphasized that Pakistan offers a business-friendly environment, presenting significant opportunities for investors.

The Minister expressed Pakistan's keen interest in strengthening trade relations with the UAE and further expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

During the discussions, both sides deliberated on various aspects of railway operations and mutual trade interests.
