Steps being taken to boost exports: NA informed

The National Assembly was informed today that steps are being taken to boost exports.

Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan told the house during question hour that different ministries will work in close coordination to achieve sixty billion export target in five years.

He emphasized that there is focus on diversification and value addition. He said free trade agreements signed with other countries are also being revisited to ensure they are more effective.  

The Minister for Commerce said that they are also engaged with the industries and manufacturers to address their problems and enhance productivity.

He said that it is the first time that Pakistan has exported tractors to East African countries.

Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb informed the House that international Mckinsey was hired through a transparent and competitive process for the digitalization of the taxation system of the country.

He said the Gates Foundation is funding this project and the national exchequer is not incurring a single penny for this purpose.

Two bills were introduced in the House today.

These include; “The Anti-Dumping Duties (Amendment) Bill, 2025” and “The Extradition (Amendment) Bill, 2025”.

Besides, “the Societies Registration (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024” was laid before the House.

The National Assembly adopted a resolution extending “the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024” for a further period of one hundred and twenty days with effect from 2nd of the next month.

Another resolution extending “the Income Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024” for a further period of one hundred and twenty days with effect from 27th of the next month was also adopted.

The House will now meet again on Wednesday at 11:30 in the morning.
