Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the digital portal for the "Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat" project to provide interest-free loans to repair dilapidated houses across the province.

Addressing the launch ceremony, she said the project has been named in memory of the children who lost their lives in the Kahna roof collapse tragedy.

She said that under the scheme, eligible citizens can obtain an interest-free loan of five hundred thousand rupees to repair and strengthen weak roofs, and up to one million rupees to construct additional rooms or second floors.

Maryam Nawaz said the project aims to protect low-income families from loss of life and property caused by unsafe buildings.
