Martyrdom anniversary of the son and hero of Kashmir Dr. Farooq Ashai is being observed today.

On this day back in 1993, Dr. Farooq Ashai was shot and killed by Indian soldiers.

Professor Ashai was the founder of the Bone and Joint Hospital in Srinagar and was the Chief Orthopedic Surgeon at the time of his martyrdom. He was revered as the Father of Orthopedic in Kashmir.
