Pakistan and Kuwait have agreed to increase the volume of bilateral trade and develop linkages between Gwadar and Mubarak Al Kabeer Port.

This was announced by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Kuwaiti counterpart Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah while addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad on Thursday.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Kuwait have also agreed to resolve long standing visa issues of Pakistani community. He appreciated the role of his Kuwaiti counterpart Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah in this regard.

FM Qureshi said Kuwait has acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan's efforts in challenging pandemic situation. He said after looking the professionalism of Pakistani medical staff, Kuwait has expressed interest in inviting more doctors, nurses and technicians to Kuwait.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi also appreciated the role of Kuwait in defusing tensions within the Gulf Cooperation Council. He praised his Kuwaiti counterpart for accepting his invitation and visiting Pakistan at the time of pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah said business encouraging legislations of current Pakistani government would help boost the foreign investment.

He expressed the desire to institutionalize the relationship between the two countries.

Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah said Pakistani community in Kuwait is an integral part of development of our country and the matter of their problems is being handled seriously. He said in this regard members of our delegation have discussed the ways to resolve their issues.

Appreciating the role of Pakistan in supporting Kuwait during its dark times, he commended Pakistan's position during the GCC rift.

To a question about Kashmir issue, he said we stand with UN resolutions in resolving the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said the issue should be resolved amicably without the interference of any other state.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi hosted a dinner in the honour of his Kuwaiti counterpart Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah in Islamabad.

The dinner was attended by Minister for Food Security Syed Fakhr Imam, Minister for Overseas Pakistan Syed Zulfiqar Ali Bukhari, SAPM Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Allama Tahir Ashrafi and other important political figures.
