Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has termed preventing Israeli forces from invading Gaza's southern city of Rafah an urgent priority.

Talking to Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira in Ramallah, he warned a possible attack by Israeli forces on Rafah will cause a humanitarian catastrophe.

Abbas also stressed the importance of accelerating the entry of humanitarian, relief and medical aid into the Gaza Strip.
