Analysts praise sincere commitment of Pakistan for Afghan peace
April 18, 2021

Najm us Saqib (Former Ambassador): Pakistan has always pursued the policy of peaceful coexistence. Pakistan is committed to settle Afghan dispute and ready to endorse any initiative taken in this regard. Joe Biden's announcement of withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan has changed the political scenario in Kabul. Regional powers are direct stakeholders in Afghanistan. Pakistan has been the most affected country of Afghan war. Islamabad has a clear stance that we want an undisputed Afghan government in Kabul. It is appreciable that all regional stakeholders are gathering in Turkey to reach a consensus on durable peace and stability in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, Taliban have shown unwillingness to attend the conference. Islamabad hopes that forthcoming meeting in Ankara would result in a meaningful resolution of Afghan issue. The United States and NATO troops intend to leave Afghanistan by the end of this year and it is high time for regional powers to make collective efforts to deal with post-withdrawal scenario. The Afghan nation is very dear to Pakistan and we desire a solution which is in the best interest of Afghan people.

Dr. Huma Baqai (IR Expert): Pakistan strongly believes that an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process is the only viable solution to Afghan crisis. Joe Biden administration has announced an unconditional withdraw of international forces from Afghanistan. In my opinion, Taliban should be convinced to attend the forthcoming meeting in Turkey and take advantage of this opportunity. Taliban must be taken onboard for the smooth political transition in Afghanistan. There is a strategic confusion in Afghanistan. US government is not ready for a future military commitment to Afghanistan. However, Washington will continue its diplomatic and economic ties with that country. The United States would ensure its presence in Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Ijaz Awan (Defense Analyst): 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's establishment is an opportunity for India to malign Pakistan. India is a terrorist country and perpetrating state sponsored terrorism in Pakistan. New Delhi does not hesitate to use any opportunity to defame Pakistan at the international level. India has become frustrated and envious because of Pakistan's improving strategic position in the region. Islamabad is committed to improve its ties with Bangladesh which is against the strategic interests of India. India is committing worst atrocities in IIOJ&K and has illegally changed the special status of Kashmir. India is also responsible for terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Before entering into any new agreement with India, we must remember that New Delhi has always betrayed us.

Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Ijaz Malik (Defense Analyst): India is habitual of bashing Pakistan through falsehood. The historical facts and ground reality suggests that stories related to Bangladesh independence narrated by India are exaggeration of facts. India has faced embracement several times due its anti-Pakistan propaganda.
