NA continues debate on Federal Budget

The National Assembly is continuing debate on the budget for the next financial year.

Participating in the discussion, Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz Akbar mentioned that incentives have been given to the construction sector in the budget, emphasizing that it will help boost economic activity.

She said concrete steps have been proposed in the budget to give impetus to industries, agriculture and IT sectors. 

Farah Naz Akbar expressed the confidence that the country will witness accelerated growth in the years to come.

Asad Alam Niazi said Pakistan’s stature has improved significantly at the international level because of its role in US-Iran peace agreement and for inflicting defeat on India last year.

He emphasized the need for further strengthening the social protection framework.

Raza Ali Gilani said the government should dedicate its efforts to the welfare of the poor people.

Raja Osama Sarwar said the budget 2026-2027 has been presented in a difficult situation. Regardless of these circumstances, he said an effort has been made to provide relief to the public. He welcomed increase in defense budget saying the entire Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with their armed forces.

Nazir Ahmad Bhugio said seven percent raise in salary of employees is not sufficient, emphasizing it should have been at least fifteen percent.

Usama Ahmed Mela described Benazir Income Support Programme as a commendable initiative and emphasized the need to digitize its payments for the convenience of women.

Parliamentary Secretary for Communications Engineer Gul Asghar Khan said the budget has been prepared with the objective of avoiding major new taxes while providing relief to low-income groups.

He noted that income tax has been abolished for individuals earning up to fifty thousand rupees per month, while a nominal tax has been imposed on those earning up to one hundred thousand rupees, calling it a positive step toward easing the burden on salaried class.
