June 18, 2026

President Asif Ali Zardari has called for greater global and national efforts to promote tolerance, respect and peaceful co-existence among people of all faiths and backgrounds.

In his message on International Day for Countering Hate Speech, being observed today, the President said hate speech and discriminatory narratives pose serious threats to peace, social harmony and human dignity, especially in today's digital age where such content spreads rapidly across borders.

Highlighting Islamic teachings, the President said Islam promotes compassion, justice, moderation and respect for humanity.

He called on religious scholars, educators, media professionals, civil society and especially youth to play an active role in promoting empathy, constructive dialogue and countering hate-based narratives.

Asif Ali Zardari said addressing hate speech requires not only legal measures but also education, awareness, and moral development.
