Pakistan has emphasized that women must be at the table where peace decisions are made.

These remarks were made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad at the UN Security Council's open debate on Women, Peace and Security.

He said peace agreements that include women are often more responsive to the needs of communities and more durable over time.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that women have served with distinction in diplomacy, peacekeeping, politics, public service, law enforcement, civil society and humanitarian response in Pakistan.
