Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam has stressed for improving farmers access to loans for increasing efficiency of the agricultural sector.

He was chairing a meeting of National Coordination Committee on Agricultural Revolution in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed agricultural inputs and fertilizer subsidy to farmers.     

Reiterating the government's resolve for development of agricultural sector and prosperity of farmers, the Minister said we need to invest in high value crops with a focus on increasing regional fruit and vegetable production along with traditional crops.

He also stressed for promoting organic farming in the country and establishing value chain of fruits like cherry and lychee.

He said we can learn from experience of other countries and their research can be applied in our own country.
