The United Nation Secretary General Antonio Guterres says rising inequality, climate crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic have threatened global security.

Addressing world leaders at the Munich Security Conference in Berlin, he urged all countries to step up support for solutions to these threats, as part of a surge in diplomacy, political will and investment for peace.

The UN Secretary-General said that all issues including Ukraine issue must be addressed through diplomatic frameworks.

He said he still believes military conflict in Europe will not happen but, if it did, it would be catastrophic.

The UN Secretary General underlined the increased unpredictability and fragility of the global landscape, including in Yemen and Libya.

Turning to the worldwide threat of global terrorism, Guterres insisted that the situation in some African countries is unsustainable.
