March 19, 2025

Pakistan is upgrading its passport printing owing to the technical support of new passport printing machines imported from Germany.

According to a report carried by Gulf News, Pakistan is gearing up for a significant upgrade in its passport system with the import of two high-tech e-passport printers and six desktop printers from Germany.

Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi also recently inspected the newly arrived printers at the e-printer section.

These high-speed printers are designed to process up to 1,000 passports per hour, which will substantially increase Pakistan's capacity to meet the growing demand for passports.

The new printers, after becoming fully functional, are expected to reduce processing times significantly, improving the overall service for applicants across the nation.

A team of foreign technical experts has arrived in Pakistan to ensure a smooth transition and oversee the installation and operational set-up of the new equipment.

Their expertise will help optimize the equipment's performance, ensuring it operates at peak efficiency.

The Director General of Immigration and Passports said the enhanced system will not only speed up the processing time, but also improve reliability, making it easier for applicants to obtain passports in a timely manner.

He said the new printers are also expected to improve the quality of printed passports, with enhanced security features that will help prevent counterfeiting.
