Radio Pakistan uploads online Urdu Talking Dictionary
May 19, 2025

Radio Pakistan has uploaded the online Urdu Talking Dictionary of authentic pronunciation, 'Lafz o Awaz ki Urdu Dictionary', to its website on a trial basis.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar will formally launch the dictionary soon.

The Dictionary contains accurate and authentic audio pronunciation and meanings of over 32,000 Urdu words, which make it distinct from other online Urdu dictionaries with respect to authentic pronunciation.

The Dictionary provides both Urdu and Roman Urdu versions and hence caters to the requirements of every Urdu speaking individual across the globe.

Research and compilation of the Dictionary and voiceover for audio pronunciation has been performed by Syed Khalid Waqar, who retired from Radio Pakistan as Controller Program.

The idea of this online Dictionary was coined by Radio Pakistan's Deputy Controller Program, Muhammad Atif. He not only planned and designed all phases for its development but also made possible audio recording, editing, coding and text formatting of over thirty-two thousand words.

Software of this Dictionary has been developed by a Lahore based young and talented software engineer and solution architect, Muhammad Mubeen Sheraz.

The dictionary can be directly accessed at the home page of Radio Pakistan's website radio.gov.pk.
