India: Congress slams Modi Govt over Pakistan’s role in US-Iran peace agreement
June 19, 2026

In India, Congress has slammed the Modi government in the backdrop of Pakistan's major success and its mediation in reaching peace agreement between the United States and Iran.

The Indian opposition and media are describing Pakistan's successful diplomacy and its global appreciation as failure of the Modi government.

According to the Indian newspaper 'The Tribune', Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said declaring peace agreement between the United States and Iran as " Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding' reflects Pakistan's growing diplomatic influence and raises serious questions over the Modi led Centre government's foreign policy approach.

He said the naming of the agreement as the "Islamabad MOU" highlights Pakistan's enhanced standing in regional and global affairs.

The General Secretary of Indian Congress Jairam Ramesh further said that Pakistan is now more deeply embedded in the geopolitical and security architecture of West Asia, with significant implications for India.

'Business Standard' said Modi government's support for Israel's actions in the region is proving to be detrimental to India itself.

Indian media further said Modi's continued appeasement towards Trump is embarrassing for India and against national interests.

According to experts, India is facing continuous humiliation in the diplomatic, defence and international trade fields due to the incompetence of the Modi government.
