Brig. (R) Said Nazir (Defence Analyst):It is very unfortunate that ill-fated Houthis have carried out attacks on holy and sacred places in Saudi Arabia hurt religious sentiments of entire Muslim world. I think that Houthis are getting military aid from abroad either from Iran, Israel or the US because they have state of the art modern drones and other weapons. Houthis also carried out attack on holy places in Saudi Arabia in 2017. However, Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has vividly represented sentiments of Pakistani public about defence of Saudi Arabia, saying that Pakistan will go to any extent to defend Saudi Arabia. He said that Pakistan will not tolerate any attack on holy places in Saudi Arabia at any cost. I think that Pakistani air force along with ample number of ground troops is already present in Saudi Arabia to defend Saudi Arabia. Pakistanis will be siding with Saudi Arabia whenever Houthis cross Saudi red lines. Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has also said that there is no doubt that Pakistan stands with Saudi Arabia against foreign threats. In my view, as per bilateral defence pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, defence of Saudi Arabia is defence of Pakistan. As per Makkah Agreement, attack on Saudi Arabia is attack on Pakistan and Turkiye both. Moreover, Pakistan is capable of targeting and eliminating the Houthis. Pakistan has stated policy to respond whoever challenges Pakistan’s sovereignty. Now Pakistan will go after Afghan terrorists to respond Kohat terrorist attack.
