Analysts endorse Human Rights Watch report that lambasts India’s discriminatory policies towards Muslims
February 20, 2021

Ali Sultan (Expert on International Law): I fully endorse the report of Human Rights Watch which is a well-reputed international organization in the world. The report indicates the discriminatory policies of BJP government towards minorities. The report also emphasizes that these violations are not only against the Indian constitution, but also against the international laws as well. The aggressive policies of present Indian government not only target the Muslims, but other minorities as well. The abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Citizenship Bill and other such acts are against the Indian constitution. Extremism now exists in Indian state institutions as well including judiciary, police and other bodies. India pretends to be a secular state contrary to its true face which has now been exposed in front of the world. There is so much intolerance in India nowadays that a twenty-two year old climate change expert was arrested by Indian troops just for raising voice in support of protesting Indian farmers. Even US vice president also tweeted in support of the protesting farmers. Indian government is becoming a threat to the regional peace and stability. The educational institutions in India are producing fake degrees and playing with the future of Indian youth. Germany has also refused to export arms and weapons to India because of the human rights violations committed by New Delhi in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Human Rights Watch and Asia Watch are well known organizations that have published research reports on human rights violations in India. The recent report published by the Human Rights Watch has raised a question mark on the credibility of Indian government. Why the world has adopted a criminal silence over worst human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir? The present Indian government terms it as interference in its internal affairs if any civilized country criticizes the aggressive Indian policies. The Indian intellectuals are also criticizing the discriminatory policies of their government. It is time that world powers play role to put a check on Indian policies and ensure the implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir issue. Otherwise, the increased escalation between India and Pakistan may lead to a nuclear war and the entire world will have to face its consequences.

Rahimullah Yusufzai (Expert on Afghan Affairs): Russian President's Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Ambassador Zamir Kabulov has been analyzing the Afghan situation for the last many years. He has stated that Afghan Taliban are completely complying with the terms of Afghan peace process. Moreover, Zamir Kabulov also expressed willingness to conduct a conference of Afghan stakeholders in Moscow as the Doha peace dialogue is stalled at the moment. United States has indicated to review its policy towards the ongoing peace dialogue with Afghan Taliban. Pakistan wants the Afghan peace process to succeed as peace in Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan. Russia is also among the key stakeholders in Afghan peace process and we are hopeful of the serious efforts from Russia to bring peace and stability in the war torn country.
