The death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet and broadcaster Eshrat Rahmani is being observed on Thursday.

Eshrat Rahmani whose real name was Imtiaz Ali Khan, was born on 16 April 1910 in Rampur, British India and shifted to Karachi after independence.

He left behind more than 100 books, most of which are on historical and biographical subjects.

Eshrat Rahmani died in Karachi on this date in 1992.
