
Thirty first death anniversary of renowned painter Laila Shahzada was observed on Sunday.
Laila Shahzada was born in Littlehampton, England in 1926. She studied painting at the Drawing Society, London.
The main subject of her paintings was Buddhism and the Indus Valley Civilization.
She was one of the first women painters in Pakistan to gain international recognition, with exhibitions around the world, including London, Paris, Tokyo and New York.
Laila Shahzada was awarded Tamgha-i-Imitiaz in 1984, and is the only Pakistani to have been awarded the "Key to the City" award of New York
She died on 20th July 1994 in Islamabad.
