August 20, 2026

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a modern "Proof of Life" certificate system for the convenience of pensioners.

Addressing the ceremony in Islamabad today, he said under the system, pensioners are not required to visit banks after every six months and they can register themselves at home.

The Prime Minister said the initiative would benefit civilian and military pensioners, particularly elderly people, women and persons with disabilities.

He described facilitating pensioners and easing their difficulties as a noble public service.

Shehbaz Sharif commended the role played by relevant authorities, including Chairman NADRA, for designing such a people-friendly system..

Addressing the ceremony, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the digital transformation journey launched under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's leadership aims to facilitate citizens and bring greater transparency to the system.

He said several public services have been digitized to make them more accessible to people. He particularly highlighted the facilities available through NADRA's PakID mobile application.

The Finance Minister said pensioners face difficulties due to the requirement to visit banks every six months, particularly when their fingerprints cannot be verified.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said the Prime Minister had directed the relevant ministries to find a solution to the issue of biometric verification for pensioners.

He said all banks would be informed that, following the introduction of the new system, pension payments should not be stopped merely because a pensioner's fingerprints cannot be verified
