Pakistan moving towards economic growth: Aurangzeb
September 20, 2026

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb says Pakistan is moving towards economic growth after achieving financial stability.

In a video statement, he said Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves reached twenty-one point four billion dollars last week, which is the highest level in the nation's history.

He said the fiscal deficit has dropped to two point six percent, reaching a twenty-two-year low.

The Minister pointed out that remittances continue to grow strongly. He further said that IT service exports reached four point six billion dollars last year and are expected to touch five point five billion dollars this year.

He said GDP growth stood at three point seven percent last year and is expected to cross four percent this year.

The Finance Minister noted that the large-scale manufacturing sector showed a strong recovery and is moving in the right direction.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said corporate profitability is rising, while young investors are increasingly joining the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

He said eleven companies issued Initial Public Offerings last year, while five IPOs were launched in the last two months alone.

He added that this shows businesses are expanding, raising equity, and setting up new units.

The Finance Minister said Pakistan has achieved economic stability and has been put on the path of economic growth after extreme hard work and difficult decisions.

Muhammad Aurangzeb cautioned that long marches, strikes, and sit-ins could disrupt this journey of national progress.

He said any disruption in economic activities could cause a daily loss of one hundred twenty billion rupees to the national economy.

The Finance Minister urged all segments of society to resolve their issues through dialogue.
