In Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the BJP-led Indian government for depriving Kashmiris of their fundamental rights through military force and draconian laws.
APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar urged the United Nations to pressurize India to halt its military terror against unarmed Kashmiris in the occupied territory.
He also called on the UN to push India to revoke draconian laws like the Public Safety Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which are being used to violate Kashmiris’ rights and justify unlawful detentions.
He emphasized that the Kashmir dispute remains a major threat to regional peace and stability, with Kashmiris enduring immense suffering.
However, he lamented that India’s refusal to engage in a meaningful and result-oriented dialogue remains the biggest obstacle to a just and lasting solution.
Meanwhile, at the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, speakers have condemned India's use of digital tools to suppress dissent in IIOJK.
They also criticized the 2020 Kashmir Media Policy for tightening press restrictions.
