April 21, 2021

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have strongly denounced Modi-led regime for killing innocent youth and destroying houses during raids and cordon and search operations in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, various Hurriyat leaders denounced the Indian Army's statement about changing the colour of its convoy flags to address feelings of alienation among Kashmiri people.

Hurriyat leader Bilal Siddiqui said we won't forget the killing of thousands of our sons in fake encounters, torture and enforced disappearance in custody and molestation of mothers, sisters and daughters by Indian army.

Another Hurriyat leader Khawaja Firdous said history shows that the Kashmiri people never conceded New Delhi's military domination and illegal occupation.

Meanwhile, Paris-based media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders in its 2021 World Press Freedom Index labelled India as one of the world’s most dangerous countries for journalists. It ranks India 142nd out of 180 countries. The report pointed out that since BJP came into power, the media is under severe pressure to toe the Hindu nationalist government’s line.

On the other hand, posters with pictures of Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa have appeared in Srinagar and other parts of the valley. The posters released by Haq-e-Khudiradiat Forum said, Kashmiris are grateful to Pakistan for its continued political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmir cause.

Speakers at a seminar urged the leadership of Pakistan and India to initiate dialogue for peaceful resolution of all pending issues.

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah, today, saluted Allama Iqbal on his death anniversary.
