Pakistan, Congo sign MoU to boost defence cooperation

A high-level defence delegation of Congo called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi today.

The delegation was headed by Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of Congo, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security environment and avenues for enhanced bilateral defence and security cooperation were discussed.

Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction over the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and Democratic Republic of Congo.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed which aims at broadening and strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules also called on Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism, operational capabilities and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Pakistan towards maintaining peace and stability in the region and acknowledged the significant progress achieved through indigenization and self-reliance.
