A high-level meeting of the committee on import of wheat was held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

The meeting conducted a comprehensive assessment of current domestic wheat reserves, projected demand and supply chain mechanisms, with a focus on rigorous measures to ensure grain availability and price equilibrium across all provinces.

Ishaq Dar emphasised the importance of maintaining robust food security safeguards to protect domestic consumers from market volatility.

He directed the relevant federal and provincial authorities to maintain close coordination, streamline import mechanisms where necessary and ensure seamless distribution networks nationwide to provide maximum facilitation to the public.
