Pakistan's policy of combating climate change effects widely acknowledged in world: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Spring Tree Plantation Drive 2022 in Islamabad on Tuesday on the occasion of World Scout Day.

Addressing the drive launch ceremony, he said the government's 10 billion Tree Tsunami program is aimed at protecting our future generations.

The Prime Minister urged the entire nation to actively participate in the tree plantation drive for better future of the next generations. He said every family should grow at least five plants.

He said Pakistan has been blessed with the weather conditions which are suitable for every kind of plant.

He expressed the confidence that the target of planting five hundred and forty million trees for this spring will be achieved.

The Prime Minister said unfortunately, Pakistan is among the ten countries, which are most vulnerable to climate change. He said Pakistan's policy of combating climate change effects has been widely acknowledged in the world.

Earlier, addressing the ceremony, Special Assistant on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said under the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Programme, over 1.4 billion trees have so far been planted. He expressed the confidence of achieving the target.

He said Pakistan's successful model of addressing the climate change challenges has been appreciated in the world, and various countries have expressed interest to replicate it.
