World Scout Day is being observed today (Saturday).

The day coincides with the birth anniversary of the founder of the Scout Movement, Lord Bedan Powell.

The scout movement was a voluntary, non-political and educational movement of schoolchildren aimed at betterment of community.

Scouting activities play a vital role in character building of youth by promoting their physical, mental and spiritual development.
