In Afghanistan, at least 950 people were killed while hundreds of others injured in an earthquake of 6.1 magnitude early this morning. 

The quake struck about 44km from the south-eastern city of Khost.

In a statement, Afghan Interior Official death toll is likely to rise as some of the villages are in remote areas in the mountains and it will take some time to collect details.
