
The Interior Minister of Iran, Eskandar Momeni, who is leading a high-level delegation, visited the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in Islamabad.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also accompanied the Iranian Minister.
Upon arrival, Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik welcomed the delegation at the NEOC.
The visiting delegation was briefed on NDMA's modern disaster management system, early warning mechanisms and disaster preparedness measures.
A detailed presentation was also given on the operational capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Center, the effective utilization of national resources and the disaster and climate-related risks facing Pakistan and neighboring countries during 2026.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman NDMA emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between Pakistan and Iran in the field of disaster management.
The Iranian delegation appreciated Pakistan's National Emergencies Operation Center and its modern disaster management system.
The Iranian Interior Minister lauded NDMA Pakistan's significant progress in disaster preparedness and response.
He expressed Iran's keen interest in benefiting from Pakistan's experience in early warning systems, proactive disaster risk management, institutional coordination and the use of advanced technologies.
The Iranian Interior Minister said enhanced cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Pakistan and Iran in disaster management would further strengthen the region's collective capacity to respond to natural disasters.
Eskandar Momeni also reaffirmed Iran's commitment to expanding institutional cooperation with Pakistan to address the challenges posed by natural disasters and climate change.
He described NDMA Pakistan's technology-driven disaster risk reduction and response model as a valuable example to follow.
Both Pakistan and Iran underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing expertise in disaster management, early warning systems and capacity building.
The Chairman NDMA reaffirmed commitment to further enhancing national resilience and disaster management capabilities through advanced technologies and international cooperation.
