Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The resolve was expressed during delegation-level talks between the two countries in Islamabad today.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi led the Pakistani side while Malaysian side was led by Interior Minister Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail.
The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, illegal immigration and the prevention of cybercrimes.
The two sides discussed cooperation in the fields of coast guards and training programmes.
They decided to establish a joint working group to promote relations between the two Interior Ministries. It was also agreed that a high-level delegation from Pakistan would soon visit Malaysia.
The two sides further agreed to share intelligence to eliminate terrorists and drug dealers and formulate a joint strategy to make efforts against terrorism, narcotics trafficking and human trafficking more effective.
They further agreed to increase cooperation between the National Police Academy and the Royal Malaysian Police College. The two sides also discussed promoting tourism and easing visa facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan wants to benefit from Malaysia’s experience in the Coast Guard sector.
He expressed the hope that the visit of the Malaysian Interior Minister would prove an important milestone in taking relations between the two countries to the next level.
The Interior Minister said Malaysia is a fast-growing country among Muslim countries and is the best option for Pakistanis for tourism.
He observed that increasing the work quota for Pakistanis would allow more Pakistanis to come to Malaysia legally.
