Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced plans to deploy new Sarmat multi-warhead intercontinental ballistic missiles this year.

In the remarks issued by the Kremlin early today, Putin said we will continue mass production of air-based hypersonic Kinzhal systems and will start mass supplies of sea-based Zircon hypersonic missiles.

Meanwhile, a senior defence official in Moscow said Russia would stick to the nuclear treaty's limits on missiles and continue to notify the US when it moves them.

US President Joe Biden had called the suspension of START a big mistake.
