Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said a comprehensive and effective strategy package is being prepared to reduce electricity tariffs, which will be announced soon. 

He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad today (Sunday) to review matters pertaining to Power Division.

The Prime Minister said reforms in the power sector will provide further relief to the public in electricity prices.

He directed the authorities concerned to remove ambiguities among public regarding solarisation policy through facts and figures.  He made it clear that there has been no change in the government's policy and priorities regarding solar energy

Shehbaz Sharif further directed to expedite the privatization process of power distribution companies. He also instructed to resolve all legal and other matters related to the privatization of generation companies at the earliest.

The Prime Minister directed the Power Division, Water Resources Division, and Petroleum Division to enhance coordination for a comprehensive energy sector strategy.
