Pakistan and Australia have stressed that dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law remain essential to achieving lasting peace, stability and security.

This came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar  and Foreign Minister of Australia Senator Penny Wong, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum 2026 in Manila.

The two leaders discussed Pakistan-Australia bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation, including through regular high-level engagement.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and noted with concern the recent escalations in the region.

The Australian Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation.
