Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of Germany Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Both sides felicitated each other on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Germany.

They reaffirmed the importance of sustained high-level engagement to further strengthen the longstanding and cordial bilateral relationship.

The two sides discussed ways to further expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, economic relations and business-to-business linkages.

They also agreed to enhance cooperation in defence, education, skilled and people-to-people contacts.

The Deputy Prime Minister and German Foreign Minister also exchanged views on regional developments.

In his remarks, the German Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.

They also discussed the situation in Palestine.

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the importance of sustained international efforts towards a ceasefire, humanitarian assistance, and a just and lasting solution based on the two-State solution.

The two sides agreed to stay in close contact.
