In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a complete shutdown was observed in Ladakh region to mark first anniversary of killing of four Kashmiris by Indian forces.       

Protest marches were held in the Leh and Kargil districts.

It was on this day last year that Indian troops opened indiscriminate fire on peaceful demonstrators in Leh.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said journalists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are facing severe state repression for exposing the ground realities of the territory.

In a statement, the APHC spokesman said journalists are summoned to police stations and forced to sign affidavits pledging not to report on human rights issues in the territory.

He said anyone attempting to raise their voice against Indian oppression is immediately thrown behind bars under draconian laws.
